Volunteer Opportunities at Fuerte (sponsored by PTA):
The Everyone A Reader Volunteer Tutoring Program was created to fill an important need. Throughout the United States, some children experience difficulty learning to read. Often, these children need special assistance and added practice in reading. To meet this need, the Everyone A Reader Tutoring Program was born.
Adult volunteers train to work one-on-one with first through third grade children. The children read books at their own instructional level while the trained tutor listens and assists the child in learning new reading strategies. The extra reading practice and the strategies help the child become a better reader.
Volunteers come for approximately one hour per week and work with four students for 15 minutes each.
Fuerte School is offering a training session on September 23rd from 9-12. Please consider becoming an EAR volunteer! We hope to see you there!
