Dear Students and Parents,

Your School is one of only 5 schools in the district who are offering such a music program.  We are Lucky! This is a free "Pullout" program funded by Hillsdale Middle School, the Elementary School site and the Hillsdale Music Dept. Parent Association (HMDPA -  huskymusic.org). The Elementary School Music Program has been a huge success with students at a very early age earning awards and recognition for their talents and achievements.  I know from the last several years of working at the Elementary Schools students have come to Hillsdale well trained and been active parts of the music program, your school has been a gold mine of talent and ability. Although many see band as a class learning to play an instrument, it is much more than that. it is the establishment of some rather profound environmental influences which will  determine much of the students success in all aspects of education, not just music. Students who play an instrument are averaging 62 points higher on SAT tests, and over 100 points higher for 4 or more years of playing an instrument.  There is the definite link between the top achiever and the music student. With college entrances becoming more difficult music could be the answer to getting into the college of your choice.

A former student of mine just recently found his music education to be benefit for his application to UCLA. He was accepted and 3 of his friends were not with higher GPA and SAT's.  He   asked admissions and they responded that a student who can commit to an instrument will commit to a being a successful college student.  Since his admission to UCLA he has been in two commercials and was flown (free of charge) to China to play for the Chinese  New Year thru his college. This is one of many stories of our former students of this program. He started in band in the 4th grade.

What can you expect from this class? With talented young musicians, dedicated parents ones imagination could run wild. Our ultimate goal is to perform for a variety audiences including parents, the school and the community.  To have our community and school recognized by its wealth of knowledge and talents, and most importantly for the students to grow and develop into young adults. We have for the last 6 years taken the advanced level band to Disneyland and participate in recording studio clinic. Where students record actual movie soundtracks and then watch scenes with their music playing. It is an amazing  experience and very educational.  To receive the important details of this activity and be able to take the most advantage possible please do the following:
