Dear Parents,
We are taking Theme 3 Language Arts District Assessment this week. Please make sure children get a good night sleep and a healthy breakfast this week. Next week we will be taking the District Math 3rd Benchmark Assessment. This test will cover Topics 10 -13. If you would like to review the concepts that have been taught in these units, have your child go on to enVision math. If your child is experiencing any difficulties, please contact me so I can help them
.
We will be celebrating Valentine’s Day Tuesday, February 14th . The students have a great time exchanging and reading valentines in class. I am encouraging all students to bring valentines to give each other. Valentines can be handmade or store bought and include treats or goodies if you like. Please make sure your child brings in a valentine for every student in our class as we don’t want to leave anyone out. I am encouraging the students to write a compliment for the person they are giving it to on the back. A list of all the students will be sent home this week. More information about our class party will be sent home at the end of the week.
Students should be filling out their Moon observation papers nightly and their Cabbage Journal each week. Both assignments go along with our science program.
We are in the mist of planting our garden. We are growing many different types of vegetables with the hope of making soup or salad for our class. As I am on a limited budget, I am asking for help getting the following materials for our vegetable garden planter box.
Our garden needs:
• marigold plants- at least 5 flats
• mulch - 3 20lb. bags
Second Grade
Your child has their first book report due Friday, February 3rd. Hopefully everyone is well on their way reading their non-fiction book on an interesting zoo animal. These reports will help prepare us for our Zoo Field Trip in February. Please have your child practice their report at home so they are prepared to read it to the classwork Field trip is Friday, February 3rd. Please have child bring a sack lunch.
Third Grade
The Third Grade students in Math are learning equivalent fractions, how to put fractions into simplest forms, and how to add and subtract fractions. It is vital that they know their multiplication facts to be successful in this very difficult math concept. Please have them practice at home.
Students should be reading their Fiction books and filling out their Animoto Storyboard. Book Reports are due February 10th for Third. Please do not wait until the last minute.
Again thank you for your support in and out of the classroom.
