Weekly Newsletter
Good Afternoon Students and Parents: I hope this letter finds you full of all the goodness of Thanksgiving: good food, good rest, good fun, good friends. There are 3 weeks of school before our Winter Break and we have a lot to do. In the CORE classes we will be reading stories from Chapter 3 in our Literature Book and discussing Author's Theme. Grammar will consist of Appositives and Direct Objects. The Wordly Wise Vocabulary program is undergoing some changes and no longer will be assigned as homework. Word Studies will be complete each day in class in the first 10 to 15 minutes. Our next essay will be a Response to Literature Essay where students will be asked to anaylyze and describe conflicts, character traits and Author's Theme. There will be no IRP book assigned till after the Winter Break. In the Honors Classes students will be asked to complete a Poetry unit that develops their analytical ability in understanding poems that we will read. To that end, all students in the Honors Classes will participte in a Fine Arts Program and will be responsible for creating and writing an 'Ode'as well as designing a pictorial representation of that 'Ode'. Students have read and read and read their first poem, "The Highwayman". Grammar for the Honors Classes will consist of Direct Objects and Indirect Objects. Wordly Wise will continue as usual. Don'forget that there is Tutoring available for all students. My schedule is on the Home Page and posted in my room as well in most of the other 7th grade rooms. This Friday, the 7th grade reward trip is planned. Students with no D's or F's in Citizenship and Effort will travel to the Zoo! Thank you to all my students who work hard to improve their grades and work still harder to keep those grades up where they belong. You are the greatest! Love, Mrs. Mac
